Aurthor Notes: Sorry for mistakes.

Tegoshi looked up in the darkening sky. The temperature dropped a while ago but he didn’t mind. The wind was picking up little by little. The grass beneath him didn’t feel warm anymore. Closing his eyes, Tegoshi waits for the awaiting drop of water. He inhales deeply and slowly exhales trying to get his mind off things. To find his inner peace. Anything but to remember what happened to him in the last three months.

He hears mothers trying to gather up their children to go home. The kids run around and say bye to their new friends before promising to come again. A low rumble in the sky makes the families hurry to go somewhere inside.

Tegoshi smiles. A soft cold drop of water landed on his left cheek followed by a few more. Feeling calm, he lets the rain pour on him since he doesn’t want to go home or anywhere. Tegoshi breathes in and out slowly reminding himself to be calm.

But then the rain stopped which doesn’t make sense because Tegoshi can feel the rain on his legs. He opened his eyes to see a typical black umbrella. Feeling his heart speed up from guessing who was holding the item, Tegoshi raised his gaze to see a pair of calm eyes. Gasping in shock from not getting the guess right, Tegoshi blinks in confusion.

“Why are you here?”

College was different from high school. A lot of people didn’t judge or make fun of anybody here.  Classes were bigger and not a lot of people cared. Tegoshi just finished unpacking everything in his room. He lived in an apartment not too far from the college he went to. It was a two bedroom, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. He had to go to the shopping plaza around the corner to do his laundry.

His roommate didn’t move in yet. Tegoshi wasn’t scared but just nervous. What if his roommate didn’t like him? Or what if his roommate was a cold stuck up bastard who turns up the music loudly or never cleans around the kitchen? Tegoshi sighs as he grabs his key and walks out of the apartment to the park down the street.

As he reached the park he saw a huge crowd over by the basketball court. Having nothing better to do, Tegoshi walks over to see what the commotion was about. A lot of girls screamed when the ball went in the basket and Tegoshi tried to see who the crowd was cheering for. It had to be somebody good.

Unfortunately, he was short and couldn’t see above everyone to see the game in general. After getting his feet stepped on, pushed around, and apologizing to a few people, Tegoshi decided to leave and maybe he’ll catch the next game.

While exploring the slightly huge park, the sun moved towards the west getting ready to sink into the distance to welcome the night. Tegoshi decides to go back home which is his new apartment. He had to begin reading the first chapter of his English book for class tomorrow. The teacher posted it on the website that the school has.

Opening the door, he sees that his roommate moved in while he was gone. The other is in the kitchen, cleaning up the dishes he used. Tegoshi closes the door and the roommate looks up and smiles in greeting.

Tegoshi nods. “Hello.”

“Good evening.” The other turns off the running water. “I’m Kato Shigeaki.”

“Tegoshi Yuya.”

Kato nods as he grabs a towel and begins drying the dishes. Tegoshi walks towards his room by the end of the hallway. Kato puts the dishes away before closing the cabinet. “Oh, there’s some extra food in the fridge. I used to cook for my family so I don’t know how to make smaller portions yet. You can have some since I can’t eat it all by myself. I’ll just forget then it’ll be a waste to throw it away. And uh-“Kato stopped after Tegoshi just stared at him for a while. Feeling like he talked too much, Kato blushed. “So yeah, whenever you see food in the fridge you can eat it.”

Tegoshi nodded. “Thanks.”

With that said he closed the door.

The first day of classes started. Students reuniting with other students and teachers getting the talk from their boss. Tegoshi arrives in the classroom twenty minutes too early because there is no one else in the room. He takes a seat in the back before taking out his notebook and begins writing. Just on his day so far, nothing interesting as usual.

“Oh, good. Someone else is here.”

Tegoshi looks up and sees a boy walking towards the empty seat next to him. “Is this seat taken?”

Tegoshi shakes his head.

“Oh, good.” The boy sits down and takes out the book for the class. “I get nervous on the first day. You know, because everyone doesn’t know who has what class together or whatever.”

“…” Tegoshi looks back down at his notebook.

“Oh, sorry. I’m Yamashita Tomohisa.” The boy smiled. “Call me Yamapi for short.”

Tegoshi nods as he goes back to his writing. “I’m Tegoshi Yuya.”

“You have a nice name. Did anyone ever tell you that?” Yamapi didn’t seem to mind that Tegoshi was writing.

Tegoshi didn’t respond for a while so Yamapi shrugged. “I’ll take that as a yes then. I got my nickname from my third grade teacher years ago. He thought it was cute and I hated it because all my friends made fun of me.”

Sensing that the other wasn’t going to say anything, Yamapi kept talking. “But then the name just sort of grew on me I guess. Oh well, I can’t do anything about it now. Do you play any sports?” Silence until the door opened and more kids came into the classroom. “I play basketball. I had a game yesterday at the park. My team lost but it’s ok. I don’t care that much.”

Tegoshi stopped writing to look at the person sitting next to him. “That was you playing yesterday?”

“Yeah.” Yamapi smiled. “And I just made you talk. Two points for me.” He did the peace sign.

“Well, you were talking before so I get four points.” Tegoshi smiled slightly thinking that this person might not be so bad.

Yamapi pouted. “But that was because I wanted to hear your voice.”

“Why?”

“Nothing, I just think you’re cute.” Yamapi winked before standing up. Gathering up his things, Yamapi smiled at the one sitting down. “See you around.”

Tegoshi watched as the other move to the other side of the room. Yamapi high-fived some kids before sitting down by them. Tegoshi tried to fight off his blush of embarrassment. Who did this guy think he was? Being all friendly and then say comments like that? Feeling his cheeks heat up, Tegoshi opened up his text book to focus on anything but how Yamapi smiled at him.

Tegoshi had an hour to kill before his next class then after that he can go home and do his homework. He felt a little weak so he decided to go eat something for the day. Walking into the lunch room, he looked at the menu that was posted on the wall. Deciding on a salad since nothing else seemed appetizing; Tegoshi went up to the cashier to pay for his food.

“Um, excuse me?”

Tegoshi cautiously glanced behind his shoulder.

“You dropped this...erm…Tegoshi-kun.”

Finally turning around, Tegoshi looked down to see his own school id being offered to him. He took the object that was offered to him. “Thank you.”

“Yeah, whatever. Can you pay cause I’m kind of hungry.”

Tegoshi faced the cashier and paid the kind lady.

That jerk! And then he was like ‘oh pay the cashier cause I’m hungry’ well, I was until you-

Something jabbed into Tegoshi’s right cheek making him jump. He looked down to see a finger and following this finger lead up to Yamapi’s kind face. “Found you.” Yamapi said as he sat down next to the other. “Whatcha writing?” Yamapi asked while trying to see what Tegoshi was writing.

Scared to let anyone read his personal thoughts, Tegoshi quickly closed his notebook. “Nothing!”

“Ok ok. No need to get defensive.” Yamapi laughed.

Tegoshi frowned. “You have this class too?”

“Yeah, that’s why I’m in here.” Yamapi got out the text book for the class. “Oh…I’m so lucky to have such a cute person in two classes!”

“…” Tegoshi went back to writing.

“Yo man.” Yamapi pouted. “Are you doing that silent thing again?”

“…”

A sigh. “I have a basketball game after class and I was wondering if you wanted to see me play. I could even let you play. Do you even play basketball?”

The door swung open and Tegoshi looked up only to gasp in shock. It was the mean person from before. Taking note in the others aloft attitude, he failed to notice Yamapi looking between him and the mean person. The new comer took a seat in front of Tegoshi, sat down before putting his head down.

“You know him?” Yamapi pointed at the other boy for emphasis.

Tegoshi shook his head. “No.”

“Ok, good.” Yamapi faced the other. “So as I was saying, you play basketball?”

“No.”

“Do you play any kind of sport?”

Tegoshi sighed. “I sort of play soccer on my free time.”

“Wow, really?” Yamapi smiled. “That’s so cool.”

“Yeah…” Tegoshi didn’t feel like talking anymore with the mean guy sitting in front of him. The other could be listening to his conversation.

Yamapi noticed the nervous glance Tegoshi was giving to the person sitting in front of them. “Are you sure you don’t know him?”

Before Tegoshi could answer the teacher walked in and began class. Tegoshi noticed that Yamapi didn’t change his seat this time and couldn’t help but to feel a bit happy at the fact. Smiling to himself, Tegoshi waited for his name to be called.

“Koyama Keiichiro!”

“What?”

Tegoshi jumped at the sudden voice. He looked up to see the mean person from the lunch room who told him to hurry up. So the other’s name was Koyama Keiichiro…

“Tegoshi Yuya!”

“Ah…here!” Tegoshi blinked out of his daze and didn’t notice Yamapi frowning at him.

***

Tegoshi stomped his way up the stairs so no one can hear him talking to himself. “That stupid stupid jerk! That Koyama person. And he was like ‘oh pay the cashier so I can eat because I’m hungry and I’m so cool because I’m bossing some other kid around’. Well he has another thing coming.”

He opened the door for his apartment and slammed the front door shut. He tossed and few things around before kicking off his shoes. “I’m going to purposely bump into him so he falls to ground crying like a baby. And what’s up with that Yamapi guy? Gosh people on this side of town are weird!”

“Tegoshi-san?”

Tegoshi stopped his movements and cast a nervous glance toward the kitchen. Kato was wearing a pink apron and had a knife in his hand obviously cooking for dinner. “Are you ok?”

Not being used to people seeing him talk to himself, Tegoshi panicked. He ran into his room and slammed the door so hard that the walls shook. Leaving a confused Kato behind before he went back to cooking.

Meanwhile Tegoshi was mentally screaming at himself. His roommate probably thinks he’s a crazy psycho person on the loose. “Stupid.” Tegoshi muttered to himself. He falls on his bed and tries to think of better scenarios in his head.

“Koyama Keiichiro!”

“What?”

Tegoshi frowned while burying his head in his pillow. Too busy fuming over Koyama that he forgot to meet up with Yamapi to play basketball after class.
